About This Service
When Dental Emergencies Strike
Dental emergencies observe no schedule. Whether it is acute pain that surfaces without warning, a tooth fractured during sport, or an infection that cannot wait, the need for skilled clinical intervention is immediate — and delay carries consequence.
At Aspire, we reserve dedicated capacity each day for same-day emergency appointments. Established patients and those new to our practice are seen without hesitation when the situation demands it. Our response begins the moment you call: triage, first-aid guidance, and the earliest possible appointment are arranged before you arrive.
Emergency care at Aspire extends beyond stabilisation. While the immediate objective is relief from pain, our clinicians attend to the underlying cause — ensuring that what begins as a crisis resolves as a foundation for longer-term dental health.
"When you are in pain, every minute counts. We are here to help — today."

What to Expect
Your Emergency Appointment
Phase 1
Before Your Appointment
Call us the moment the emergency occurs. Our team will triage your situation over the phone, provide immediate first-aid guidance, and confirm your earliest available appointment. For avulsed (knocked-out) teeth, we will advise on preservation while you travel to us. Do not delay — for tooth loss in particular, time is a clinical factor.
Phase 2
On the Day
On arrival, your comfort is the immediate priority. An emergency examination identifies the issue and any necessary imaging is taken. We explain the diagnosis clearly before anything proceeds — you will understand what has happened and what treatment is needed. Our clinical environment is designed to be calm; we work at your pace.
Phase 3
After Your Appointment
Where emergency treatment is a temporary measure, we provide a clear written plan for any definitive care required. Aftercare instructions and any prescriptions are discussed and issued before you leave. Where follow-up is needed, the appointment is scheduled before you depart. You will leave informed, stable, and with a clear path forward.
Step by Step
What to Expect in a Dental Emergency
Immediate Contact
Call 020 8081 9958 the moment the emergency occurs. Our team will assess urgency, provide first-aid guidance over the phone, and arrange your earliest available appointment. For knocked-out teeth, preservation guidance is given before you arrive — the instructions we provide in those first minutes can determine the outcome.
Priority Assessment
On arrival, pain relief is attended to first. A focused emergency examination establishes the diagnosis, and imaging is taken where required. You are informed of the findings and the proposed treatment before anything proceeds — there are no surprises.
Emergency Treatment
We address the presenting problem: draining infections, temporary or permanent restorations, root canal initiation, tooth re-implantation, or other interventions required to stabilise your condition. Our aim is resolution within a single visit wherever clinically possible.
Pain Management and Aftercare
Where appropriate, antibiotics or analgesics are prescribed. Clear written aftercare instructions are provided and discussed before you leave. You will not depart the practice uncertain of the next steps or what to expect in the hours that follow.
Follow-Up Planning
Some presentations require further definitive care. Before your appointment concludes, any follow-up treatment is scheduled and a longer-term preventive plan discussed — ensuring the emergency is not merely resolved, but does not recur.

Patient Stories
Emergency Care That Made a Difference
I fractured a front tooth on a Saturday and was in some distress. Aspire arranged to see me that same afternoon. The repair was flawless and the experience was remarkably calm. I left feeling the whole situation had been entirely resolved.
Patient Stories
Emergency Care That Made a Difference
A severe infection had me in considerable pain by early morning. By midday I had been examined, treated, and the pain was gone. The professionalism and calm with which the team handled what felt, to me, like a crisis was quite extraordinary.
Patient Stories
Emergency Care That Made a Difference
My son knocked out a tooth during a rugby match. We called Aspire immediately and they advised us on how to preserve it while we made our way in. He was seen within ninety minutes and the tooth was successfully reimplanted. The outcome could have been very different without the speed and skill of the team.
Common Questions
Common Questions About Emergency Dentistry
-
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe pain, uncontrolled bleeding, knocked-out teeth, facial swelling, dental abscess, and trauma to the teeth or jaw are genuine emergencies requiring same-day care. Lost fillings or crowns may be urgent but are not always emergencies if you are not in pain. When in doubt, call us — we will assess the urgency and advise on next steps.
-
How quickly can I be seen?
Most emergency patients are seen on the same day they call, often within a few hours of contacting us. For critical presentations — severe bleeding, facial trauma, or an avulsed tooth — we see patients as urgently as possible. Knocked-out teeth should ideally be treated within thirty to sixty minutes for the best reimplantation outcome.
-
What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?
Handle the tooth by the crown — never the root. Rinse gently if soiled, but do not scrub. If possible, place it back into the socket. If this is not feasible, store it in milk or your own saliva — not water — and call us immediately. Time is critical: the sooner treatment is administered, the greater the likelihood of successful reimplantation.
-
Will emergency treatment be painful?
No. Pain relief is our first priority on arrival. Effective local anaesthesia is administered immediately, and sedation options are available where required. Many patients report that relief begins the moment anaesthesia takes effect.
-
Can new patients access emergency care?
Yes. Whilst we prioritise our established patients, we accommodate new patients experiencing genuine dental emergencies. Dental pain should not be endured whilst searching for a new practice.
-
What happens after emergency treatment?
Some emergency interventions are definitive — the treatment is complete in one visit. Others are temporary stabilisation requiring follow-up for a permanent resolution. We will explain clearly what was done, what remains temporary, and what follow-up is needed. A longer-term preventive plan is discussed before you leave.
-
Is it better to attend A&E for a dental emergency?
Hospital emergency departments typically cannot provide definitive dental treatment. They may offer analgesics or antibiotics, but dental clinicians are rarely present and you are likely to be advised to see a dentist regardless. Contacting us directly results in expert care faster, and avoids an unnecessary wait.
-
What if the emergency occurs outside of your opening hours?
Our emergency line provides guidance for established patients outside of core hours. For genuine after-hours emergencies, we will direct you to the appropriate NHS urgent dental service or emergency department if required. Most presentations, however, can be safely managed until morning when full clinical care is available.
