What Is This Treatment?
What Is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. These controlled micro-injuries trigger your body’s natural healing response — stimulating collagen and elastin production, accelerating cell turnover, and improving circulation to the treated area.
At Aspire, we use medical-grade devices with precise depth control and sterile, single-use cartridges. This is not at-home dermarolling — our clinical equipment penetrates deeper, more uniformly, and more safely than consumer devices, delivering measurably superior results across a wider range of skin concerns.
The versatility of micro-needling is what makes it exceptional. A single modality addresses fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, hyperpigmentation, and overall skin laxity — simultaneously. By stimulating your skin’s own regenerative processes rather than introducing external substances, results improve progressively over weeks and months as new collagen forms.
“Your skin already knows how to renew itself. We simply give it the precise signal to begin.”
Ideal Candidates
Is Micro-Needling Right for You?
Micro-needling is appropriate for a wide range of skin concerns across all skin types and tones. The following indicators suggest you may benefit from a personalised treatment protocol.
All suitability is confirmed at an initial consultation with our skin specialist, who will assess your skin condition, discuss your goals, and recommend the most effective approach.
- Living with textural scarring from past breakouts Depressed acne scarring responds exceptionally well to medical-grade micro-needling. Multiple sessions progressively improve scar depth, surface uniformity, and overall skin quality.
- Noticing enlarged pores, rough texture, or dull skin When consistent skincare is no longer delivering results, collagen remodelling at clinical depth refines pore appearance, smooths surface irregularity, and restores radiance.
- Managing uneven skin tone, dark spots, or sun damage Accelerated cell turnover fades hyperpigmentation, melasma, and photodamage. Safe for all skin tones, including Fitzpatrick IV–VI, unlike some laser alternatives.
- Preferring gradual, natural improvement over injectable treatments Your skin genuinely improves rather than being temporarily filled or frozen. Results are progressive and cumulative — each session builds on the last.
- Experiencing early loss of firmness or fine lines Sustained collagen and elastin production creates tighter, firmer skin across the face, neck, and décolletage — meaningful improvement for early laxity without surgical intervention.
- Wanting to maximise results from your existing skincare investment Post-treatment skin absorbs serums and active ingredients far more effectively. Your products work harder when not blocked by accumulated surface congestion.
Your Journey
Your Micro-Needling Journey
Skin Assessment and Consultation
Thorough skin analysis — examining texture, scarring, pigmentation, pore size, and overall skin health. We discuss your primary concerns, review your medical history, assess whether micro-needling is appropriate for your skin type, and photograph your starting point for tracking progress across your treatment series.
Treatment Planning
Based on your assessment, we recommend a personalised protocol: number of sessions required, optimal needle depth for your concerns, appropriate spacing between treatments, and whether to combine with specialist serums. We provide a realistic timeline — results are progressive over 2–6 months — and transparent pricing for single sessions or treatment courses.
Pre-Treatment Preparation
On treatment day, we thoroughly cleanse your skin and remove all traces of makeup. We apply topical numbing cream and allow 20–30 minutes for maximum effectiveness. While the numbing takes effect, we review the treatment plan and confirm you are comfortable to proceed.
Micro-Needling Treatment
Using a sterile, single-use needle cartridge, we systematically treat each area in a controlled grid pattern — making multiple passes to ensure complete, even coverage. During treatment, we may infuse specialist serums formulated with growth factors, hyaluronic acid, or peptides through the micro-channels, allowing dramatically enhanced absorption deep into the skin where active ingredients are most effective.
Post-Treatment Application
After needling, your skin is highly receptive to active ingredients. We apply soothing, healing serums and may follow with LED red light therapy to accelerate healing and enhance collagen production. Your skin will be red and slightly swollen — similar to moderate sunburn — which is entirely normal and expected.
Results and Subsequent Treatments
Initial improvements appear within 1–2 weeks as texture smooths and radiance increases. Significant collagen remodelling develops over the following 4–12 weeks. We schedule your next session 4–6 weeks after the first. Progressive improvement occurs with each treatment, with optimal results typically achieved after completing a course of 3–6 sessions.

Skin Concerns Treated
What Can Micro-Needling Treat?
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Collagen stimulation for line softening
Softens expression lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and perioral lines through sustained collagen production. Results are natural and progressive — your skin genuinely improves rather than being temporarily filled. Ideal if: You prefer gradual, natural improvement over injectable treatments, or you want to enhance skin quality alongside other aesthetic procedures.
Acne Scars
Atrophic and rolling scar improvement
One of the most effective non-surgical treatments for depressed acne scarring. Multiple sessions progressively improve scar depth, texture, and skin surface uniformity. Often combined with complementary scar techniques for optimal results. Ideal if: You have textural scarring from past breakouts and want measurable improvement without invasive procedures.
Enlarged Pores
Pore refinement and tightening
Tightens and refines pore appearance, particularly across the nose, cheeks, and forehead. Collagen remodelling around pore openings creates visibly smaller, tighter pores over a treatment series. Ideal if: Enlarged pores affect how your skin looks and how your makeup sits — and topical pore-minimising products have not delivered.
Hyperpigmentation and Sun Damage
Dark spots, melasma, age spots
Accelerates cell turnover to fade dark spots, sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory pigmentation. Often combined with brightening serums infused during treatment for enhanced pigment reduction. Ideal if: Uneven skin tone or persistent dark spots are your primary concern, and you want a treatment safe for all skin tones.
Uneven Skin Texture
Uneven Skin Texture
Smooths rough, bumpy, or irregular texture caused by scarring, cumulative sun damage, or the natural ageing process. Creates a more refined, even skin surface with improved light reflection and radiance. Ideal if: Your skin feels rough or looks dull despite a consistent skincare routine, and you want clinical-level resurfacing.
Skin Laxity and Firmness
Mild sagging, loss of elasticity
Improves mild skin laxity through sustained collagen and elastin production. Creates tighter, firmer skin across the face, neck, and décolletage. Not a replacement for surgical lifting, but a meaningful improvement for early laxity. Ideal if: You are noticing early softening or loss of firmness and want to intervene before laxity becomes more pronounced.
Clinical Excellence
Medical-Grade Precision
-
Advanced Micro-Needling Devices
We use professional, MHRA-approved micro-needling pens with precise depth control from 0.25mm to 3.0mm, high-speed oscillation for comfortable treatment, and adjustable intensity settings. Sterile, single-use cartridges are opened in your presence — never reused.
-
Customised Needle Depth
Depth is tailored to your concern and treatment area. Superficial depths (0.5–1.0mm) address pigmentation and fine texture; mid-range (1.0–2.0mm) treats wrinkles, pores, and mild scars; deeper settings (2.0–3.0mm) target significant scarring and stretch marks. We adjust depth across zones within a single session for precision results.
-
Serum Infusion Protocol
During treatment, we infuse specialist serums through the micro-channels for dramatically enhanced absorption: growth factors to accelerate collagen production, hyaluronic acid for deep hydration, vitamin C for brightening, and peptides for structural support. Serum selection is tailored to your skin’s specific needs.
-
Post-Treatment LED Therapy
Red-wavelength LED light therapy often follows micro-needling to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and further stimulate collagen synthesis. This combination enhances overall treatment outcomes and shortens recovery time.
Real Skin Transformation
“After years of struggling with acne scars, micro-needling was the first treatment that made a visible difference. After four sessions, my scarring is dramatically improved and my skin is smoother than it has been in over a decade. My confidence is completely different.”
Real Skin Transformation
“I had deep forehead lines and rough texture from years of sun exposure. After a series of treatments, my skin looks years younger. The lines are softer, the texture is smooth, and I have a healthy glow I had not seen in a long time. Everyone asks what I am doing differently.”
Real Skin Transformation
“Enlarged pores and uneven texture made my foundation look dreadful. Micro-needling completely refined my pores and smoothed my skin. My makeup applies beautifully now, and honestly, I often skip foundation entirely — my natural skin looks that much better.”
Real Skin Transformation
“I was hesitant about the recovery, but it was minimal — slightly red for a day, then back to normal with some flaking that resolved easily. The results have been gradual but impressive. My skin is firmer, smoother, and more radiant. I look refreshed and well.”
Common Questions
Micro-Needling Questions
-
Does micro-needling hurt?
With proper numbing, most patients rate discomfort at 2–4 out of 10. The sensation is typically described as scratchy or prickly rather than painful. Some areas are more sensitive — around the nose and mouth — but remain tolerable. We apply topical numbing cream 20–30 minutes before treatment, which significantly reduces sensation throughout the procedure.
-
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your concerns and goals. For general maintenance and prevention, 1–2 treatments annually. For fine lines, texture, and pores, a course of 3–4 sessions. For acne scars, typically 4–6 sessions, with deeper scarring potentially requiring more. Treatments are spaced 4–6 weeks apart to allow collagen remodelling between sessions.
-
When will I see results?
Initial improvement appears within 1–2 weeks — brighter, smoother skin with improved radiance. At 4–6 weeks, collagen production increases noticeably and texture improves. Peak collagen remodelling occurs at 3–6 months, when maximum improvement becomes visible. Results are progressive and cumulative — each treatment builds on previous improvements.
-
Is micro-needling safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. Unlike some laser treatments that carry a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin, micro-needling is safe for all skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–VI). The mechanical micro-injury does not generate the heat damage that triggers pigmentation complications. Proper post-treatment sun protection remains essential for all skin types.
-
How long is the downtime?
Skin is red and slightly swollen immediately after treatment, similar to moderate sunburn. Redness typically fades within 24–72 hours. Mild flaking or peeling may occur between days 3–7 as cell turnover accelerates. Most patients return to work within 24–48 hours, and makeup can be applied gently after the first 24 hours.
-
What is the difference between professional and at-home micro-needling?
Professional treatment uses medical-grade devices with needles penetrating 1.0–3.0mm under precise depth control, performed by trained practitioners with sterile single-use cartridges and specialist serum infusion. At-home devices use needles of only 0.25–0.5mm — effective for product absorption but insufficient for meaningful collagen induction. Professional treatment delivers significantly superior results for scarring, lines, and structural skin improvement.
-
Can I combine micro-needling with other treatments?
Yes, though timing matters. LED light therapy and hydrating serums can be applied the same day. Chemical peels and light facials should wait at least 2 weeks. Stronger peels, laser treatments, and intensive procedures require a 4-week gap. Anti-wrinkle injections and fillers are typically spaced 2 or more weeks before or after micro-needling. We plan comprehensive treatment schedules during your consultation.
